Background

Biography

Donald J. Trump is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finance. According to his White House biography, he followed his father into real estate development in New York City. The same biography says he has written more than fourteen books, the first of which was The Art of the Deal.

The White House lists Trump as the 45th and 47th President of the United States, and its biography says he won the presidency in his first run for any political office. He won a second time in the 2024 election.

Trump was sworn in as the 47th president on January 20, 2025, in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol. The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies records him as the second former president to return to office for a second, non-consecutive term.
